Hello, Friends —

The Democrats’ never-ending lust for socialism in America continues, and I will do everything in my power to stop them. This week in Washington, I stood with my Republican colleagues to condemn the evil ideology, co-sponsored legislation to support our troops, and more. The fight continues. Here’s a look at our week in review:

THE ALLIES ACT PASSES THE HOUSE

Yesterday, I voted for H.R. 3985, the ALLIES Act. Afghan interpreters and contractors served alongside Northwest Florida’s deployed fighting forces for many years.  This legislation creates enhanced immigration status for those who put their lives on the line for the safety of Northwest Florida’s families.  Let us learn the lessons from Afghanistan and endeavor to kill our enemies, help our friends, and not spend decades fighting barbarians for unknowable gain.

REP. GAETZ CONDEMNS SOCIALISM

This week, I cosponsored Rep. Salazar’s resolution denouncing the horrors of Socialism. While this may be to nobody’s surprise, it is always important to reiterate the recognition of socialism as a catastrophic dynamic between a government and its citizens. This resolution outlines several historical examples of the greatest crimes and tragedies of socialism, and why such a system goes against the founding principles of our great nation. Specifically, this measure highlights the proven examples of the USSR, China, Cambodia, North Korea, Cuba, and Venezuela. Of all members in the 117th Congress, Rep. Salazar is certainly qualified to introduce such a resolution; she is the daughter of Cuban exiles who settled in the Little Havana neighborhood of Miami. Sometimes--especially as we observe a Biden administration urging socialist policies--it takes first-hand experiences to realize how dangerous Socialism and Communism really are.

REP. GAETZ SUPPORTS VETERANS

Those who served in uniform must always have access to essential resources. I am proud to cosponsor H.R. 4575, which would expand the VA’s peer specialist support program to all VA medical centers. I am always motivated to do whatever I can in Congress to support the northwest Floridians who have sacrificed for the United States of America.

LETTER TO NIH: FOREIGN ANIMAL TESTING

Unelected bureaucrats continue to spend your money without your consent. This time the National Institute of Health (NIH) is sending tax dollars overseas in support of the very research that may have unleashed the deadly pandemic. This requires a response:

I’m excited to announce that the Office of Gulf Coast Restoration in the Treasury Department has awarded money to Okaloosa County for the construction of a shade structure at the Gulfarium C.A.R.E. PASSPORTS

As summer is upon us and much needed vacations are on the horizon, we want to remind everyone traveling abroad to check their passports! If your passport needs to be updated, apply early! With the backed-up demand from Covid, the Department of State (DoS) is taking much longer than usual to process passports. On average, our district office is seeing that it takes DoS 18 weeks on a regular timeline and 12 weeks to process an expedited passport. I suggest that you apply 6 months ahead of your scheduled departure and enjoy your time abroad!
