Essential workers and everyday Americans barely made it through the pandemic. 80 million people lost their jobs. Over 620,000 Americans have died. Meanwhile, billionaires got 44% richer. They're taking turns jetting off to outer space, flaunting unlimited reserves of cash.
The worst part? Today's wealthy Americans pay drastically less in taxes than they did in the 1950s -- about one-sixth as much.
A wealth tax won't drive the uber-wealthy into poverty. They'll barely even feel a pinch. These oligarchs have so much money that they quite simply couldn't ever spend it all.
During his four years in office, Donald Trump went through the billionaire wishlist, tossing off corporate tax breaks and CEO bailouts like candy while the rest of us suffered under the weight of the pandemic. But Elizabeth Warren has a vision of a more fair America, where wealth isn't a ticket to untouchable power. And a wealth tax is the key. But the billionaire class is using all its wealth to fight her, so Warren needs all our help to fight GOP and corporate lobbyists.
The nation wants a wealth tax, and Democrats control congress and the White House. We have the power to make up for the last four years.
