Neighbor -

My name is Casey Sixkiller. I’m running for mayor because Seattle is a mess and I have the experience to get our City back on track.

I grew up in Seattle. After attending Dartmouth College, I moved to Washington, D.C., to serve on the staff of Congressman Jim McDermott and later Senator Patty Murray. I worked on legislation to create jobs and housing, expand transit, replace aging infrastructure, protect the social safety net, and restore our natural environment. I quickly learned that to make real, lasting change you have to be willing to work with anyone and not let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

I am the only candidate that has led large, complex organizations. I moved home to become the chief operating officer of King County, managing the daily operations of the 12th largest county in the United States alongside Executive Dow Constantine. I cut through bureaucratic barriers and worked with community partners to deliver 1,000 new shelter units and established new, community-centered approaches to addressing inequitable access to transit and open space.

During this past year I helped manage the City through a global pandemic as Deputy Mayor — standing up services to support vulnerable families and rapidly scaling testing and nation-leading vaccination efforts. I drove the strategy to temporarily use hotels and expand the tiny home village program to transition folks out of parks and off our streets.

This election is our chance to move past divisions and semantics and focus on getting the work done. I’ll be ready from Day One to rebuild a stronger, safer Seattle with thriving neighborhoods and businesses by focusing on outcomes, not more process.

That's why I’ve got a plan:

  • To get every tent out of our parks in my first 100 days in office;
  • To hire cops that are from our community and share our values, while also scaling up alternatives so we all feel safe again;
  • To lift up 16,000 families falling behind and to make child care more affordable;
  • And to create jobs by investing in our infrastructure and partnering with businesses - large and small.

We need to get back to the basics. I want Seattle to be a city that WORKS — that solves problems, delivers services, and keeps us all safe.

Casey
