A Hero's Story
------------------------------------------------------------

Hussain Kazimi came to the United States in 2014 on a Special Immigrant Visa after serving the U.S. mission in Afghanistan as a translator. During his 10 years of service, he faced unimaginable danger, but he was able to make it out and start a new life in the United States. As the U.S. withdraws from Afghanistan, thousands of Afghan allies like Hussain are at grave risk.

On Tuesday, LIRS CEO Krish O'Mara Vignarajah appeared on "Here and Now" to discuss the recent announcement that approximately 2,500 of our Afghan allies will be brought to Virginia's Ft. Lee—and address the thousands still left behind.

Earlier this week, LIRS North Dakota held a COVID-19 vaccination clinic for the Islamic community of Fargo, paying special attention to cultural practices to encourage participation. The clinic was held at the site of the city's annual Eid celebration.
