Dear John,

After 62 years of brutal communist rule, the Cuban people are crying out for freedom. On July 11th, they decided that the tyranny that has oppressed churches and brought with it starvation, poverty, and the inability to adequately respond to a deadly virus has gone on far too long. Across the country, Cubans were willing to risk anything to put an end to the oppression. Holding American flags, the greatest symbol of hope the world has ever seen, they're ready to rewrite their history--even as their president vows revenge.

Watch this week's Pray Vote Stand to hear from those on the ground, policymakers, and church leaders about how we--as followers of Jesus--can help the hurting people of Cuba. Congressman Alex Mooney (R-W.Va.), whose mother fled Cuba after being imprisoned by Castro's regime, discusses just how vital America is to the Cubans' cause. Pastor Jatniel Peréz joins from Cuba to share what is happening behind the scenes of a regime bent on crushing dissent. And Cuban-American Pastor Frank Lopez tells his story, having fled Cuba as a child to fighting for his homeland to have what many Americans take for granted every day: liberty. He shares how Christians can be praying for and helping the people of Cuba as they stand against this oppressive regime.
