A big part of my story starts in 1927. That year, my great-grandmother, an Italian immigrant, opened a grocery store on the first floor of her house to help her family make ends meet.

Almost 100 years later, my parents still operate that grocery store — a small business that has embedded my family in my hometown of Whitehall for four generations.

I describe Whitehall as a “spaghetti dinner town” because it’s a place where the community comes together to throw a spaghetti dinner fundraiser when somebody needs help. Working together, we support that person.

I am honored to be from Whitehall — a place that embodies service, community, empathy, and patriotism. Many small towns across upstate New York and nationwide promote these same values, which is one reason why they are such special places.

People like Elise Stefanik are a threat to spaghetti dinner towns. In an attempt to divide us to amass personal power, she ignores what will actually help her constituents and she puts lies above truth.

Now, more than ever, our politics need a sense of community to confront the challenges that our district and nation face from people like Elise Stefanik and the dangerous faction that she leads. I’m running for Congress to deliver for my community and put the people of Upstate New York first.
