A new interpretation board has been added to the Bulwell Forest Recreation Ground which provides information on some of the history of the area as well as what to look out for whilst walking on the park.
The Friends of Southglade Park asked Councillors if some additional wildflowers could be purchased from the ward members budget to improve the park. A range of different plants were bought as part of the Bee Friendly project including Oxeye daisy, Yarrow, Selfheal, Red clover and Musk Mallow. Earlier this year, Cllr Campbell-Clark joined members of the Friends Group, a park ranger and the Neighbourhood Development Officer to plant these in selected areas on Southglade. Thank you to the volunteers who, not only turned up on the day, but also helped to water them during the dry spell that followed.
The Councillors have also provided funding for some Spring bulbs eg crocus, snowdrops, daffodils and bluebells to be planted locally this October as a Covid remembrance area.
Anyone who has lost a friend or relative due to Covid is welcome to come along and help to plant them. Look out for more details on My Bulwell Forest facebook or ring 07939 065477 for more information.

Several years ago, local Councillors in Bulwell Forest, including Cllr Alan Clark, began discussions with senior officers on how a derelict former pub site which was prone to flytipping and surrounding land could be improved.
After much hard work from a wide range of people, the site was bought, nearby flats were demolished and new, modern homes have now been built and let to tenants. Sadly, Cllr Alan Clark died before the homes were built and the new road on the development has been named in his memory.
"The late Cllr Alan Clark would be very honoured to know that this development has been named in his memory. Alan was very committed to serving the residents of Bulwell Forest. It is indeed humbling to see this Street Name in his memory. Our grandchildren will visit the area knowing that their grandad was part of the early decision making to have these properties built."
Councillor Eunice Campbell-Clark

You said……. There is nothing to stop children from running straight out of Southglade Park onto the busy road near the bend on Ridgeway, Top Valley
We Did…….. Councillors agreed that this was an issue and allocated funding to install a pedestrian barrier in front of the entrance.
