After a year-long delay because of the pandemic, the Olympic Games finally kick off tonight -- and the Paralympics will follow at the end of next month. I can't wait to watch everyone, especially the more than 40 Coloradans, compete.
Athletes like Yul Moldauer (Artistic Gymnastics), Kevin Mather (Archery), Adeline Gray (Wrestling), Benard Keter (Track and Field), Sophia Herzog (Swimming), and so many more from our state have dedicated thousands of hours of training to qualify for the Games. They reflect the very best of Colorado and have already made us so proud.
While no friends, family, or fans will be able to cheer them on from inside the arena, I want every Coloradan competing in Tokyo to know that we have their backs and are rooting for them here at home.
Ahead of tonight's Olympic Opening Ceremony, will you join me in wishing all of Colorado's Olympic and Paralympic athletes good luck in Tokyo? You can sign the card and even leave a note or words of encouragement.
