Hi team --
It's hard to believe that we're already halfway through 2021.
Things are finally starting to look “normal” thanks to so many Americans that made the choice to get vaccinated. Unfortunately, with the slowing of vaccination rates and the new Delta variant, COVID cases are on the rise across the country. We've made it too far to go backwards, so be sure to spread the word and remind your friends and family to get vaccinated.
In addition to the vaccine, the American Rescue Plan has helped us return to the people we love, kept cherished mom-and-pop shops open, provided K-12 education funding, emergency rent relief, and direct support to our local governments.
Thanks to the American Rescue Plan, nearly 90% of American families will start to receive monthly payments of $300 per child in July -- that's $3,600 per year, per child. In New York's 19th District, 38,900 households are eligible to receive these payments. That's money for child care, for books, for food, and so much more.
Your family may be one of them. Learn more about the Child Tax Credit and whether your family is eligible for payments at ChildTaxCredit.gov.
I also recently wrapped up another townhall -- our 61st -- where folks made it very clear that investing in our infrastructure is a top priority. It is for me too, and that's why I'm excited to announce that the House has passed the INVEST Act, which includes 8 pieces of legislation that I've taken the lead on. Not only will the INVEST Act address PFAS contamination and bolster broadband access, but it will also include funding for several other infrastructure projects across NY-19.
Also helping our return back to normal is my Direct Support For Communities Act. Across NY-19, local governments are planning to use funds from the act to support mental health and addiction services, boost small businesses, and more.
It was an honor to host Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack at our bipartisan Agriculture Advisory Committee, which includes representatives from all 11 counties in New York's 19th Congressional District. During our meeting, Secretary Vilsack heard directly from upstate farmers about much-needed infrastructure investment, farmworker demand, rural development, and growing our dairy industry.
I'm proud to show up and do the work in Congress every day because of people like you, team. This campaign is truly fueled by the people, and I'll continue to put in the work to ensure a brighter tomorrow for us all.
We've made it this far and we will continue to push through -- together.
With love,
Antonio
