** Undergoing conversion therapy increases risk of suicide attempts among LGBTQ people in Colombia
------------------------------------------------------------
Using data from the largest survey of LGBTQ people in Colombia to date, researchers found an estimated 22% of LGBTQ people in the country have undergone conversion therapy. Those who experienced conversion therapy were 76% more likely to attempt suicide compared to LGBTQ Colombians who did not experience conversion therapy.
Researchers found that the rate of lifetime suicide attempts among LGBTQ people in Colombia (25%) is almost 10 times higher than among the general Colombian population (2.6%), with nonbinary people and transgender people most at risk.
