Dear John,

This week marked 200 days of our Democratic majority delivering results for the American people in this Congress. At the start, COVID-19 vaccinations were hard to come by, and our economy was still teetering. Since then, we've made major strides in turning the tide of the pandemic and getting our economy back on track.

Thanks to the American Rescue Plan:

400,000+ people in NEPA have gotten at least one vaccine dose
Over 6.5 million Pennsylvanians received stimulus checks this year
Our unemployment rate has fallen from nearly 10% to under 7% in the past six months

Our recovery plan is working, but we can't just go back to the way things were before COVID-19. We need to keep investing in our families, our infrastructure, and our small businesses so we can come back stronger than ever. For the next 200 days and beyond, I'm committed to getting these federal dollars back to NEPA and into your hands.

Another $3 Million Making its Way Back to NEPA

This week, I was pleased to announce that a House Subcommittee included $3 million I requested for the Borough of Moosic to build a combination police and fire facility in its proposed fiscal year 2022 funding bill.

This will replace the Greenhouse Hose Company structure that has long been challenged with space, safety, and handicap accessibility issues.

Building this new emergency services facility will ensure lasting improvements to the public safety of our area and the changing needs of our community.

This is only the start. As a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, I want to continue helping as many of NEPA's police, fire and emergency medical responders as I can so they are well-equipped to serve us in times of need.

On the Right Track

Railway Expansion to NEPA

After years of advocating for railway expansion to our area, I am excited to share that Amtrak is about to study how they might build a NEPA-NYC route. Many of my partners and I have looked into this ourselves. But, after Amtrak put our area on their 2021 proposed service expansion list, the news that they are now taking a serious look at our area is a pretty important development.

This has been a years-long battle, but I continue to stick with it because it will mean more jobs, business growth, tourism so much more for our area.

This has to be a team effort. That's why I've created the Lackawanna Cut-Off Rail Restoration Caucus in the U.S. House, with Pennsylvania and New Jersey Representatives to ensure we're on the same page in making this dream become reality. Stay tuned for more developments!
