John —

The American Dream belongs to all of us, including those who came here as children.

But a federal judge’s ruling in Texas has put that future in jeopardy for hundreds of thousands of Dreamers — and it’s up to Congress to act before their case reaches the Supreme Court.

Please add your name to my urgent petition demanding protections for Dreamers and a pathway to citizenship. I’ll explain more in a moment, but our time to act is running out.

Texas Judge Andrew Hanen just ruled that President Obama exceeded his executive authority by establishing the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. This means the fate of hundreds of thousands of undocumented people — who know no other home than America — is being put into question by this temporary stop to any new DACA application approvals.

DACA protects those whose parents brought them to the United States as children, allowing them to live and work in the only nation many of them have ever known. More than 800,000 people have been able to live and work in the U.S., thanks to DACA. 250,000 U.S. citizens have a DACA recipient as a parent, and more than 1.5 million live with at least one Dreamer. Every one of them deserves a chance to enjoy the American Dream.

This heartless ruling is the latest attack on the DACA program after Donald Trump attempted to dismantle it in 2017. For no other reason than to rally his base.

Unless Congress acts fast, the Biden administration will have to appeal the court ruling — leaving the Supreme Court to decide the program’s fate. A Supreme Court assembled by Mitch McConnell.

But we must not only protect the DACA program — it’s time to finally provide a pathway to citizenship for all 11 million undocumented people.

Sign your name next to mine demanding Congress protect DACA and create a pathway to citizenship. There is no time to waste.

We can’t risk letting the Trump-dominated Supreme Court strike down DACA before Congress acts. This is what makes your voice so important.

Thank you for always being part of our efforts.
