The state of public school education in America is disgraceful, and only suffering more each day due to the climate crisis.
It’s time for a revolution in how we approach education and the climate crisis — for every student and educator, in every school in our communities across the country.
Our public schools are crumbling, overheated, and underfunded. Our students, especially those from low-income backgrounds, are falling behind, at no fault of their own. The state of public school education in America is disgraceful, and only suffering more each day due to the climate crisis.
That’s why I am proud to support Rep. Bowman’s Green New Deal for Public Schools, which would make a transformative federal investment to fund green retrofits at every K-12 public school facility in America, hire and train more teachers, provide clean water in schools, increase funding for low-income and disability-focused federal programs, and so much more.
If you agree that we need radical change to fix both our public education system and our planet, please add your name to co-sign the Green New Deal for Public Schools.

The Green New Deal for Public Schools will invest $1.43 trillion over ten years in America's K-12 education system to fix and improve our schools. And if passed into law, the bill will create an Office of Sustainable Schools within the U.S. Department of Education to administer new programs with the Department of Energy. These resources and programs include, but are not limited to:
- Upgrading every public school in the country to create healthy, zero-carbon, accessible – and most importantly, safe – learning environments for students and staff.
- Drastically reducing student-to-staff ratios, to better support both students and staff.
- Strengthening and diversifying the teacher and school staff pipeline.
- Address historic school funding inequities.
Plus, similar to the original Green New Deal, the Green New Deal for Public Schools will fund 1.3 million jobs a year and eliminate 78 million metric tons of carbon dioxide annually.
All of our children and families deserve expansive educational opportunities and a thriving planet, and we hope you’ll join us in making these demands. Please add your name today to support a Green New Deal for Public Schools.
In solidarity,
