Did you see Peter and Rep. Joaquin Castro’s voting rights virtual town hall on Wednesday evening? Just in case you missed it, you can still check it out here [[link removed]]

As Peter and Rep. Castro talked about, the fight for our democracy is an existential struggle — and it’s going to take all of us standing together and taking action if we’re going to succeed.

That’s why we wanted to follow up by sharing three important ways you can get directly involved in the fight to defend our right to vote, help expand access to the ballot, and expand your connection with our movement in your community and across the country.

What do you say? Here’s how you can take action:

1. Call your Senators and demand action on voting rights

We’re very fortunate here in Vermont that both of our Senators are actively fighting for voting rights and are open to filibuster reform — but if you live in another state or have friends and family who do, please, reach out to your Senators and demand action. Tell your Senators: We must end the filibuster, pass the For the People Act, and save our democracy.

Use this link for info on contacting Senators on the fence [[link removed]] or call the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 to be connected directly.

2. Grassroots organizing and work on the ground

All across the country, there are incredible grassroots organizations defending our right to vote, and they need your help. For groups and community organizations like the ones below, just a bit of your time or a small donation will go a long way toward supporting their struggle. Use these links to learn more about how you can get involved:

3. Tell your friends and family

It’s going to take all of us to defend our democracy — tell two friends or family members about this issue and ask them to join you in making a call to your Senators, chipping in a donation, or volunteering with an organization above or in your local area. Special interest groups and lobbyists in Washington may have deep pockets, but we have something far stronger — each other.

Just as Rep. Castro told us all in Wednesday’s event: “Don’t give up, stay in there and fight, and your voice will make a difference in the end.” So long as we stand together, we can save our democracy, defend our right to vote, expand access to the ballot, and create a government that truly represents and works for the people.

Thank you for being with us in this fight. We are stronger together.
