(Gamblers should still put their money on San Francisco and Los Angeles, where the district attorneys have been so lax in prosecuting crimes that both are targets of recall efforts.)

New Study Dispels Special Ed Funding Myth About Charter Schools

There is no doubt that regular public schools receive more funding than charter schools. For example, regular public schools in Oakland receive 31 percent more than charter schools. In Los Angeles, regular public schools receive 35 percent more than charters. Nationally, research has shown a 33 percent funding gap.

Why does RHNA exist? Without some oversight, many local regulators in California would permit little to no new housing. Given how taxes work in our state, municipalities have an incentive to attract jobs and retail, while off-loading housing onto the town next door. As a result, California doesn’t build enough housing, resulting in an ever-higher cost of living.

Yet again we have another instance of policymakers believing they know the correct prices on everything from goods to services to labor. It’s an arrogant position born of ignorance – as well as an addiction. San Francisco’s policy is more likely to drive DoorDash and Grubhub out of the city than it is to stop any “exploitative” practices.
