Hey John, it's Jesse, Jamaal's Finance Director.
When it comes to growing a massive movement like ours, transparency is key in our fundraising efforts. It's important for us all to be on the same page when it comes to our fundraising, which is why I wanted to check in and give a quick update on where we're at so far for the month of July.
Before I do, I'm hoping you can chip in a donation of $3 — or whatever you're able — and set us up to end the first month of the new quarter strong. Every dollar puts us in a stronger position to compete with our opponents, defend ourselves against attacks from the establishment, and ensure Jamaal can keep legislating for our needs.
Summer months, particularly in July, are historically slow months for campaign fundraising — and there are a few reasons why.
Right now, the 2022 midterms seem further away than they are close. Folks aren't spending as much time indoors or checking their emails. People are feeling burnt out from a tumultuous year. The urgency in the work we do may not seem as obvious as it once was.
But the truth is this, John: our campaign relies on individual donors to keep our work going strong. Our people-powered movement doesn't take the summer off — because we don't believe that there's an off-season when it comes to politics — and our work remains as important as ever. We simply can't afford to lose momentum.
Our movement is entirely sustained by individual donors, chipping in small amounts to emails just like this one, to ensure Jamaal has the tools and resources to bring progress to New York's 16th District.
All of our progress — from bringing vaccination sites to the Bronx and Westchester, to championing the Green New Deal for Public Schools — has been a direct result of supporters like you uplifting our progressive values. There's so much we've achieved in our time in Washington; we simply can't afford for a fundraising summer slump to get in the way of our progress.
