Join this national chorus to save our democracy...

Dear John,

On Monday, July 26, the Poor People’s Campaign will join partners around the nation to take the fight for democracy to the home offices of US Senators as we continue our Season of Nonviolent Moral Direct Action. Will you join this national chorus to save our democracy?

Together with dozens of partners, our 40+ state coordinating committees, and thousands of faith leaders, we demand that Congress:

  1. End the filibuster
  2. Pass all provisions of the For the People Act
  3. Fully restore the 1965 Voting Rights Act
  4. Raise the federal minimum wage to $15/hr

The time is now for a resurrection of nonviolent moral direct action, not an insurrection of immoral violence. This is our Selma moment.

And so, from Tuesday, July 27th through Saturday, July 31st, the Poor People’s Campaign will unite our voices in Texas for a 27-mile Moral March for Democracy, starting in Georgetown, a place with a long history of resistance to racial violence, and ending in the state capitol of Austin. We welcome all who are near Austin, and who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19, to join us for the rally on July 31st at 10 CT and and for everyone else to join us online at action.poorpeoplescampaign.org.

With this season of nonviolent moral direct action, we continue to challenge the capitulation and inaction of those who have proven themselves to be adversarial to voting rights, economic justice and the very foundations of our democracy. We’ll be bringing it all home to Washington D.C. on August 2nd. Go to action.poorpeoplescampaign.org for all the information on this historic season!

Forward together, not one step back!
