John, Have you ever considered a run for President of the United States? The Constitution has just four simple rules: - You must be at least 35 years old.
- You must be a natural-born U.S. citizen.
- You must have lived in the United States for at least 14 consecutive years.
- You cannot take an oath to protect the Constitution and then incite or participate in a violent insurrection.
This final rule, established by Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, bars Donald Trump from holding any future public office. By inciting the deadly January 6th insurrection at the Capitol in an attempt to block his own electoral defeat, he violated his oath of office and is therefore ineligible to run for President again.
