Student loan debt is the second-largest source of household debt, and it’s crippling entire communities.

Black Americans hold twice as much student loan debt as their white counterparts, making student-loan cancellation a matter of racial justice as well as economic equality.

In 2020, we helped elect President Biden and a Democratic majority in Congress in part because they vowed to address the student loan debt crisis. With over 45 million people in the US holding $1.6 trillion in student debt, it’s time they act.
