Read about why I stood against it, and how I am fighting for West Virginians first.

Dear Patriot,

Yesterday, *I was on Newsmax discussing why I am opposing a bankruptcy settlement proposal by OxyContin maker Purdue Pharma for our state.* ( [link removed] )

I want the settlement *ALLOCATION FORMULA* for the money to be determined by the *SEVERITY* of the *PROBLEM* in each state, rather than their proposed formula, where they make most funding decisions based on population.

A population-based formula is disastrous for West Virginia as our state was one of the hardest hit by the Opioid Epidemic.

Yet, here’s what’s even worse. This Purdue settlement, as well, as other settlement proposals, have a sweetheart provision for California.

That’s right. California is trying to carve out a separate deal which hurts West Virginia and EVERY other state.

Government makes a lot of mistakes and you hear me talk about them all the time.

But we need not throw money down the black hole by awarding opioid monies to states primarily based upon population — this isn’t how you fix a major National problem.

I will never stop fighting for what is best for West Virginia, and will work tirelessly to fight against the Opioid Epidemic that has ravaged our state.

I hope you will help me spread the word.

Sincerely,

Patrick Morrisey
