Dear John,
I celebrate my birthday today with thanks for simply making it through the past year.
Too many of our neighbors didn’t.
Over half a million Americans have died from the pandemic, a quarter million of them due to inadequate insurance. That’s why I remain committed to universal healthcare, and why I’ll be speaking in Los Angeles this weekend to support the movement.
Can you join us today to help force universal healthcare onto the congressional agenda? Our race aims to remove the central impediment to a House vote on Medicare For All.
Too many of our neighbors lost property—or even their lives—to wildfires last season, and this year is already off to a disturbing, dangerous start. Climate chaos is not far off future fear. It is here, it has been here, and it kills Californians every year. That’s why I remain committed to the Green New Deal, and to nationalizing the fossil fuel industry to keep fossil fuels in the ground.
Too many of our other neighbors have lost their lives or loved ones to senseless police violence. That’s why I remain committed to ending qualified immunity, dismantling mass incarceration, and shifting federal budgets enabling predatory policing towards more effective and humane strategies that support public safety.
Can you join us today to help challenge climate chaos and predatory policing? These matters of life and death remain unaddressed by a generation of complicit policymakers.
Thanks for standing with us!
Shahid
