Friend,

With the recent news that Lake Mead- the massive reservoir that provides water to millions of Californians- registered its lowest levels ever due to climate crisis-driven drought and overuse, the need for access to safe and clean water is more critical than ever.

Californians across the political spectrum agree:

CLCV is at the forefront of creating a global roadmap for our leaders to follow on issues like clean drinking water, here in California, and federally. We’ve engaged over 40 statewide experts to identify policies and solutions to enact by our 2030 climate deadline. Through this process, we’ve determined we must advance sustainable water management solutions, with prioritization on communities who lack access to safe and clean drinking water.

The next step in this process is where you come in! Supporters, like you, play an important role in giving us the resources to organize around water issues in the communities most affected, lobby our state leaders and our federal delegation, and run accountability campaigns aimed at putting pressure on leaders who aren’t making water issues a priority.

In fact, because of our donors’ previous support of our advocacy work, CLCV was able to participate in a coalition of groups that was instrumental in Senator Alex Padilla introducing the Lead-Free Drinking Water for All Act in Congress - which is a $45 billion bill to ensure lead pipes are replaced across America.

But the work isn’t done! A gift of $25 goes a long way in helping us pass bills like this. Please consider supporting our efforts to make accessibility to safe and clean drinking water a priority. Millions of Californians lack this basic right. And, with your help, we’re using our expertise in accountability, power-building and organizing to correct that.

We hope you can join us today, as we strive towards a future with a robust and clean water infrastructure.

In solidarity,

Aaron McCall
Federal Advocacy Coordinator

We believe that radical change is necessary and only by transforming our political system will we create the opportunity to take bold action on climate change. We elect and cultivate environmental champions, turn election victories into policy wins, hold our lawmakers accountable, and build political power for change. We inspire hope and action and fight for equity and justice for all Californians. We are in the business of changing what’s possible.
