Dear John,

It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through this year. In the past six months, since the start of this Congress, we have welcomed in a new Administration, recovered from an unprecedented winter storm, and made incredible progress in defeating the coronavirus and getting our economy back on track. Take a glance at the past six months by the numbers and keep reading for more on our work spanning the first six months of the 117th Congress.

2021 Highlights:

  • Over $349,000 in federal benefits and money returned to North Texans
  • 262 cases closed helping North Texans with federal agencies
  • 5 town halls and roundtables
  • 138 bills cosponsored, more than 70% have bipartisan support
  • Responded to more than 27,400 constituent letters
  • Almost $1 billion in funds delivered to help local governments combat COVID-19
  • Introduced bipartisan legislation to build a Spinal Cord Injury Center at the Dallas VA

Working with both parties to put North Texans First

I was honored with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Jefferson–Hamilton Award for Bipartisanship, which recognizes Members of Congress who demonstrate a commitment to advancing bipartisan solutions that address our nation’s problems and move our economy forward. I was awarded a 96% score for being among the most bipartisan members of the House.

The American Rescue Plan

In March, I helped to pass the American Rescue Plan, legislation to meet the needs of our nation and defeat the coronavirus, safely open schools and businesses, and set us on the course for economic recovery. The American Rescue Plan included a national vaccination plan, relief checks for individuals, support for small businesses, assistance for airline industry workers, support for state and local governments, enhanced Unemployment Insurance benefits, additional rental assistance, support for our schools and child care providers and strengthened the Child Tax Credit.

Investing in Families, and Transportation Infrastructure

I took paternity leave earlier this year to care for my wife and newborn son. Every worker should have access to the peace of mind that paid leave offers when caring for a sick family member or after the birth or adoption of a child. That’s why I am working hard to pass this policy as part of President Biden’s American Families Plan.

I have also been working to pass a once in a generation investment in our nation’s infrastructure that would create millions of jobs in rebuilding and repairing roads, bridges, and airports, removing and replacing lead pipes to provide clean drinking water, expanding broadband access and focusing on American manufacturing and sustainable, clean-energy solutions.

North Texans have shown great resilience over the past year, from a once-in-a-generation pandemic to an unprecedented winter storm, to recovering from a bruised economy. No matter the issue, I will always put North Texas first and work with both parties to build back stronger than before.

I look forward to a productive remainder of the year and hope you’ll stay connected to my office.  My team and I are always here to answer your questions and help with any issues you have with federal agencies. If you would like to contact me, please send an email, or call my office at 972-972-7949.

It is an honor to serve North Texas, where I was born and raised.

Sincerely,
