DEBT CEILING : @LindseyGrahamSC tells us he could vote to raise debt ceiling if he gets a Social Security and Medicare trust fund commission and/or other reforms

During the Obama-era, Republicans made ridiculous demands to cut Social Security and Medicare, and withheld their votes until the United States came within hours of breaching the debt ceiling. This hostage crisis caused our credit rating to be downgraded!
Read Michael’s email below and chip in $7 to STOP Republican plans to destroy our Social Security system!

--MICHAEL'S EMAIL--
John,
The Debt Ceiling has no reason to exist. When combined with the filibuster, its only utility is to give a nihilistic minority party the ability to sabotage and extort the governing party.
Senator Lindsey Graham is planning to announce Republicans’ ‘demands’ in exchange to allow the United States to pay for the spending Congress has already authorized. We must be vigilant!
Under President Obama, Republicans repeatedly demanded cuts to Social Security and Medicare in exchange for their votes to increase the debt limit. They could do the same under President Biden―and the TRUST Act gives them the vehicle to do it.
We can’t afford to wait until Lindsey announces the GOP’s ransom―Social Security Works is mobilizing NOW to ensure that every member of Congress knows that the TRUST Act is nothing more than a vehicle to destroy Social Security and Medicare! Donate $7 today!
The TRUST Act was first introduced under President Trump, around the same time that Trump was attempting to cut off Social Security’s dedicated funding. If enacted, it would create a closed-door, fast-tracked process for cuts any time revenues dipped for Social Security or Medicare.
Mitt Romney was the ringleader for the TRUST Act last year, but it attracted some irresponsible Democratic supporters like Kyrsten Sinema, for whom a sheen of bipartisanship matters more than cruelty.
Remember: Republicans only care about the debt when Democrats are in power. They had no problem giving $2 trillion in tax cuts to the super-rich and corporations.
If Lindsey Graham is planning to come for Social Security, we’re going to make him very sorry. Chip in $7 today!
Thanks,
