Friend,

Did you know nearly 60% of people who have experienced severe abuse in intimate relationships experienced it for the first time under the age of 25? This issue is a young person issue, yet too often we are left out of the conversation. Those who experience intimate partner or domestic violence often experience reproductive control, birth control sabotage, and/or sexual assault, all of which can lead to unintended pregnancy. We cannot achieve reproductive justice unless we all can live in safe and sustainable communities free from both state and interpersonal violence.

Take the pledge to show your support.

To highlight communities that are most often overlooked during discussions of domestic and intimate partner violence, URGE and advocates from In Our Own Voice: National Black Women’s Reproductive Justice Agenda, Ujima Inc.: The Nation Center on Violence Against Women in the Black Community, Advocates for Youth, and SIECUS are hosting a Domestic and Intimate Partner Violence Week of Solidarity Campaign.

Join us from October 14th-October 18th on social media using the hashtags #IPVIsAnRJIssue #DVIsAnRJIssue and IPVIsNotJustACissue as we shed light on domestic and intimate partner violence as a reproductive justice issue and take the pledge to support survivors! 💜💜💜

In Solidarity,
