 Friend -- I worked hard to expand the Child Tax Credit, and despite every single Republican voting no, help is already on the way to America’s parents. Last week, families got their first monthly payment thanks to the Child Tax Credit. These payments are automatic -- not hidden behind red tape, paperwork, and something only accountants know about. Last week, eligible families started receiving automatic payments of $300 per month for each child under six, and $250 for each child between six and 17. When I met with a group of moms who were helped by the monthly child tax credit, I heard how this would help so many different types of families across the country. I am so proud that we got this done. And I was reminded of the vote cast by every single one of my Republican colleagues: NO. I think it’s important for American families to know that when their child tax credit comes, it’s despite every single Republican in the Senate. It’s a reminder to you and me what the stakes are in this fight and how important it is to expand -- not just protect -- the Democratic majority. Wins like this shouldn’t be against the odds.
