This ruling makes it absolutely clear: Congress must urgently pass a permanent legislative solution.

The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas ruled Friday that the government cannot approve new DACA applicants, making it abundantly clear: Congress must pass a permanent legislative solution for Dreamers, TPS holders, farmworkers, and essential workers now.

Friend,

Dreamers and their loved ones received devastating news yesterday: a U.S. District Judge ruled that the government cannot approve new DACA applicants, barring tens of thousands of new DACA recipients from getting work authorizations and protections from deportation.

While those who currently have DACA can still renew — for now — this ruling only reinforces the fear and uncertainty that DACA recipients have been forced to live with for years. And it’s made one thing absolutely clear: only a permanent legislative solution passed by Congress can provide the safety, security, and certainty that Dreamers, TPS holders, farmworkers, and essential workers deserve once and for all.

Your representatives need to hear from you today, Friend, so that they know constituents like you think a pathway to citizenship is urgent. Will you use your voice next week?

Pledge to call your member of Congress next week. In the wake of this new court ruling, urge Congress to pass a pathway to citizenship to provide DACA recipients, TPS holders, farmworkers, and essential workers with permanent protections right away.

This cruel ruling does not obscure one very important fact: the DACA program has been a tremendous success that has transformed hundreds of thousands of lives.

The 700,000 DACA recipients in the United States are our friends, our families, and members of our communities. They are living, working, and contributing to the only country most of them have known. They’re the parents of more than 250,000 U.S. citizen children, and 200,000 are essential workers helping us recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Congress must act with urgency to protect immigrant families. The newly released Senate budget resolution includes a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, TPS holders, farmworkers, and essential immigrant workers. It is crucial that this remains in the budget resolution and Congress continues its debate to once and for all allow DACA recipients, TPS holders, farmworkers, and essential workers to live without fear and continue to build their lives here.

Make sure Congress knows that the American people support a pathway to citizenship today: pledge to call next week and urge your representative to pass permanent protections for Dreamers, TPS holders, farmworkers, and essential workers now.
