On July 15, the Child Tax Credit began delivering relief to families all across the country working to provide bright futures for their children -- including to the parents of nearly 150,000 children right here in Ohio.
With up to $300 a month, advancing the Child Tax Credit will provide vital income for groceries, rent, and child-care -- lifting 14,300 out of poverty.
Last year, we saw the circumstances of the pandemic magnify the effects of economic inequality in Ohio, leaving thousands without the resources they needed to provide for their families. Washington doesn’t need to hold their money – by advance paying the Child Tax Credit, we can tackle this inequality and alleviate some of the financial pressure that parents have faced for far too long.
This is a life-changing win for working families. Our nation’s middle class is the backbone of our economy, and it is time that we make meaningful investments in their financial future.
This tax credit is the first of many victories, and we cannot stop now. We cannot afford to ignore middle-class families in favor of our nation’s wealthiest 1%.
Ensuring financial stability for Ohio’s working class is my top priority, and I will not stop fighting until that goal has been fulfilled.
