John,

Every day that goes by, another 6,000 acres of open space are lost to
development ... and millions more are threatened and exploited for
short-term profit by private interests.

But we have the opportunity to turn the tide, and I'm excited
to share with you one of our most important preservation opportunities
in the country ... the 384-acre Banning Ranch, which is located on
the California coast between the cities of Newport Beach, Costa Mesa,
and Huntington Beach. It is the largest parcel of unprotected coastal
open space remaining in Southern California ... and we urgently
need to raise the funds to help save this special place that will
benefit millions of people.

Will you help The Trust for
Public Land preserve Banning Ranch, and other tracts of land across
the nation, by making a tax-deductible contribution today?

For more than 20 years, the future of Banning Ranch has hung in the
balance. Long eyed for development, we've entered into a
contract to purchase the land and transform this property, currently a
working oil field, into a vibrant park and natural coastal oasis.

Our goal is to return Banning
Ranch to its natural state. In addition to serving as open space and
parkland for the millions of people in the surrounding communities,
the property is also home to many birds, mammals, reptiles,
amphibians, and even fish ... in fact, several endangered and
threatened species can be found within its boundaries and nearby
vicinity. As a committed supporter of The Trust for Public Land,
you've helped advance our critical work this year, and we need you to
take the next step to help preserve this vital refuge.

John, your
tax-deductible contribution today will aid our efforts to save Banning
Ranch and many other open spaces around the nation.

The Trust for Public Land seeks to
conserve one million acres of land, protect 1,000 miles of rivers, and
connect or build 1,000 miles of trails across America by 2025. And
your tax-deductible contribution will greatly aid our efforts to reach
this goal.

Your gift of
$35
or whatever amount you can provide will greatly aid this worthy
endeavor, as well as our many other preservation efforts.

I hope that we can count on your immediate support to jumpstart our
vital fundraising for this and other important projects. We
can't do it without you.

Sincerely,

Kim Elliot
