Welcome to Thursday, July 22nd, rotary and push-button...

House minority leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has pulled all five Republicans from the Capitol attack panel after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) rejected two.

In a letter, Pelosi said she was denying the selections of Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN), who was slated to serve as the panel’s top GOP member, and Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan (R-OH):

“With respect for the integrity of the investigation, with an insistence on the truth and with concern about statements made and actions taken by these Members, I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan to the Select Committee. The unprecedented nature of January 6th demands this unprecedented decision.”

McCarthy released a statement that called Pelosi’s “unprecedented” move an “egregious abuse of power."

Banks and Jordan are both outspoken Trump allies who voted against certifying Joe Biden’s election victory.

** Senate GOP Block Initial Debate on Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework
------------------------------------------------------------

The Senate on Wednesday failed to advance a motion that would’ve started the initial debate on the bipartisan infrastructure framework ([link removed]) , as Republicans balked at starting the process while negotiations over outstanding issues.

The vote initially failed 50-50 along party-lines ― well short of the 60 needed for debate to begin ― but closed at 49-51 after Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) changed his vote from “yea” to “nay” so that he can bring the motion up for another vote at a later date.

Senate rules require that the leader is on the prevailing side to reconsider a failed vote.

Should the bipartisan group of senators keep working on their infrastructure package? ([link removed])
