Dear John
After the success of the first Challenge Poverty Week England and Wales in 2020,
it's back again this year. If you're involved with a church or project tackling
poverty in your community, we'd like to invite you to be part of Challenge
Poverty Week too.
In 2020, over 2 0 events took place during the first CPWEW. The events brought people together to speak up, share collective wisdom and resolve with a
view to ending UK poverty. Notably, there was discussion on the link between
poverty, race, gender, class, sexuality and region.
The overarching theme for 2021 is community after Covid. Participants are encouraged to consider what needs to change as we emerge from
the pandemic, whose voices need to be heard, and who we should be walking
alongside as we move forward together as a society.
Would you or your organisation be interested in organising an event or taking part in other ways in Challenge Poverty Week? If your church runs a food bank or other community outreach programme, it would be a great way to celebrate your work and raise awareness of the issues.
To learn more about our key themes and messages and how you could take part, you
can either: join online introductory session on 2 September at 6pm; o r download our free toolkit.
