John,

It’s hard to believe, but as of today we’re officially 200 days into Jared’s second term in Congress. We sent Jared back to Washington to be a fierce advocate for Maine and break through partisan gridlock, and that’s exactly what he’s doing. We want to keep you up to date on what Jared’s been working on, so here is just some of what Jared has been up to since our last newsletter.

INCREASING ACCESS TO SOCIAL SECURITY SERVICES:
After hearing from constituents who expressed frustration with the fact that Maine’s six Social Security field offices have remained closed to nearly all appointments, Jared is working to ensure that Mainers are able to access the services and benefits that they need. This month, Jared wrote to the Commissioner of the Social Security Administration, calling on them to open their doors and return to pre-pandemic levels of service as soon as possible.

SUPPORTING NAVAL SHIPBUILDING:
Jared joined Sen. Angus King in hosting Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks at Bath Iron Works to push back on the Biden Administration’s proposal to cut down on production of the Navy’s DDG-51 destroyers, which are built at Bath. Jared is continuing his work in the Armed Services Committee to reverse this cut and protect Maine’s shipbuilding workforce.

INFRASTRUCTURE:
Jared believes that we can’t let politics get in the way of a major investment in our highways, roads, bridges, broadband expansion, freight and passenger rail, and more. Last week, Jared led a group of 10 Democratic lawmakers to press House leadership to hold a vote on the bipartisan infrastructure plan as soon as possible. This effort follows months of work by Jared and his colleagues in the Problem Solvers Caucus to negotiate a bipartisan infrastructure framework.

We know that none of this would have been possible without your continued support. Thank you for being on our team.

Sincerely,

Team Golden

P.S. The GOP establishment has listed Jared as a top target to beat next year, and ads attacking Jared’s record are already up on TV in Maine. We can’t let them undo all the progress he’s made, so if you can, will you chip in $5 or more to help Jared continue this important work on behalf of ME-02 in Congress?
