You did it! Pressure from taxpayers gets tax relief for small business and family farms.
Dear John,

You did it! Thanks to you, family farms and small businesses will pay lower taxes.

Your pressure made a difference.

Earlier this week the Canadian Taxpayers Federation wrote to you about unelected bureaucrats stalling a law that would cut taxes for small businesses and farmers trying to keep their business in the family.

Even though elected politicians passed the law in June, federal bureaucrats tried to delay the law until next year and said cabinet could rewrite the bill.

This was a slap in the face to our democracy. Federal rules state that laws go into effect as they are written and as soon as they receive royal assent. Bureaucrats aren’t allowed to whip out the eraser and drag their feet afterwards.

But the government backtracked after getting an earful from taxpayers like you!

The finance department just announced that the law is passed, and tax relief now applies.

Can you please take a few minutes to send an email thanking the chair of the finance committee, Wayne Easter, for holding unelected bureaucrats accountable, and to Larry Maguire for introducing this law that provides tax relief?

Send an email using the addresses below:
* Larry Maguire: [email protected] (mailto:[email protected])
* Wayne Easter: [email protected] (mailto:[email protected])

This is a solid victory for taxpayers, small businesses, farmers and our democracy. And it shows what can happen when taxpayers hold politicians and bureaucrats accountable.

Thanks for fighting for taxpayers – it’s making a difference!
* Franco, Shannon, Todd, and the entire CTF team.
