Friend,
Last week, our country took an incredible step forward in supporting working families. Thanks to the American Rescue Plan, the Child Tax Credit was expanded to provide much needed relief for families with children of all ages.
Now, because of the work of President Biden and the Democrats in Congress (no Republicans voted for this), many working families with children under the age of 6 will receive $300 per child per month, and eligible families with children ages 6 to 17 will receive $250 per child per month.
This is a monumental step forward in supporting and uplifting working families.
Experts have estimated that this expansion will lift 5 million children out of poverty — cutting child poverty in half nationwide. 92% of kids in Ohio will directly benefit from this tax relief.
That is an incredible accomplishment, but we have to work hard to make sure we keep this momentum going into the future.
When I am in Congress, one of my priorities will be to ensure that initiatives like the expanded Child Tax Credit continue into 2022 and beyond, but we need to call on Congress right now to get this work started.
Will you sign our petition to demand that Congress make the expanded Child Tax Credit permanent for 2022 and beyond?
Right now, the expanded Child Tax Credit is expected to revert back to its original guidelines in 2022, meaning that working families will receive less money each month. But, if we can make the expanded Child Tax Credit permanent, eligible working families will continue to receive much needed support for all children under the age of 17.
It’s thanks to Democrats in Congress that the Child Tax Credit was expanded this year, and it’s on all of us to make sure that these changes are made permanent in the future.
Please sign our petition now to tell Congress that they must take immediate action to make the expanded Child Tax Credit permanent.
When I’m in Congress, I look forward to working with lawmakers in both parties to make this happen, but for now I need to know that you’re on board.
Thank you for supporting working moms and families, and for being a part of this movement,
Allison Russo
