Hi John,
Our country is growing more diverse and hungry for change. That's a good sign for America but a bad sign for the Republican party. The GOP is hanging on to power the only way they know how: by sending voter suppression bills to the legislatures of nearly every state.
Hillary Clinton spoke for us all when she pointed out that these bills mark a return to the darkest chapters of America's history. They are, Clinton says, “no different from the Jim Crow past.” She also said that the bills are a “clear attempt to move away from a pluralistic, multi-racial democracy and toward white supremacist authoritarianism.” We couldn't agree more.
If we don't stop these discriminatory laws in their tracks, we might lose our democracy. But there's hope: We just need to protect the right to vote for everyone, and we have Democrats in Congress fighting for that right now, but passing voter protections is extremely difficult in our evenly split Senate -- especially with the Senate filibuster in place. That's where you come in. We're ready to launch a new initiative to get the message out about the damaging effects of these bills, and we need to raise $2,500 by midnight tonight to kick-start our efforts. We need public servants who value democracy -- starting now. Can you contribute just $10 or $25 to get us there? >> [link removed]
