It's been a rough few days for David Chipman's nomination to head the ATF. How rough you ask? Rough enough that Senate Judiciary Chair Dick Durbin (D-IL) admitted, "We're having difficulty with it." OUCH! When the guy in charge of guiding your nomination through the U.S. Senate is basically telling the media that they don't have the votes yet to get you confirmed, that can't be too encouraging. On the flip side, Sen. Durbin's admission is music to gun owners' ears. Durbin went even further and confessed that Chipman has "a lot of issues." I don't agree with Dick on barely anything, but my God he's speaking the truth on this one!

And it doesn't end there. Sen. Rubio released a statement yesterday basically telling Senator Schumer and others in U.S. Senate leadership to either put up or shut up when it comes to Chipman. "Let the Senate vote on this nominee or President Biden should withdraw his nomination, put forth a consensus nominee to lead this important agency, and live up to his commitment to work across party lines to restore Americans’ trust in law enforcement,” Sen. Rubio argued.
While it seems that the walls are closing in on "The Waco Kid", this isn't the time to ease off the proverbial gas pedal. In fact, it's quite the opposite. We know there are U.S. Senate Democrats who have reservations about his nomination, but have yet to announce their intentions. We know that those supporting his nomination still are doing everything they can to justify and explain away his radical, out-of-step stances. This is whywe must finish the job and ensure that Chipman is canceled for good!
