One was incredibly routine and happens all the time, and the other hasn’t happened for 50 years .

The Former: Jeff Bezos took his rocket barely into space ( something NASA and the U.S. Government routinely does every year since 1961 ).

The Latter: The Bucks won their first title since 1971!

John, I’m more excited about the latter. But, in all seriousness, it’s important to recognize that the rocket Jeff Bezos took to the edge of the atmosphere was paid for by mistreated employees, displaced American workers and shuttered small businesses left in Amazon’s wake.

John, Jeff Bezos pays virtually no income tax. In fact, he’s probably paying less in taxes than you or me. Don’t forget about this headline from last month:

While billionaires can fund vanity projects like going to space, we’re stuck down here paying more in taxes than them. Remember, if the rich paid their fair share, we could easily pay for public goods like updated infrastructure or widespread broadband access. Goods that everyone could enjoy and which businesses also need to be successful.

I’m running to break the current system and ensure that everyone, regardless of whether they own a damn spaceship , pays their fair share in taxes.
