Dear Friend,

Last week, Adhikaar launched a Temporary Protected Status Redesignation campaign for Nepal and we need your help!

Nepal remains unsafe for return due to the ongoing and recent political instability, the current severe impacts of COVID-19, and continuing effects of the 2015 earthquake. This is why we have launched our campaign to urge the Department of Homeland Security to redesignate Nepal for temporary protected status (TPS), which would protect the over 10,000 Nepali TPS holders currently here and additionally could allow for more than 35,000 Nepalis to become eligible. Watch this explainer video in Nepali.

This is a huge opportunity and you can help us. Sign this petition to call on Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas to redesignate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Nepal, to ensure that tens of thousands of Nepalis can be protected from being forced back to Nepal in this uncertain time.

TPS holders are the backbone of our community. They are essential workers, parents of U.S. citizens, small business owners, active community members and every bit as American as anyone else. With the TPS expiration deadline approaching for Nepal and the uncertainty of litigation, Secretary Mayorkas must act NOW to bring about the security and stability for tens of thousands of TPS holders and their families.

If you have any questions or would like to get involved in the campaign, then please respond to this email or contact us at (718) 937-1117.

In Solidarity,

Pabitra Khati Benjamin,

Executive Director, Adhikaar
