Medicare turns 56 years old at the end of this month. After 56 years, we’re long overdue for expansions that ensure seniors in Ohio and the rest of the country receive the care they need and can afford.

In the Senate, I’m working to expand access to Medicare and its benefits:

I’m
co-sponsoring
legislation
to
repair
a
system
in
which
health
insurance
companies
levy
seemingly
arbitrary
and
astronomical
fees
against
community
pharmacies,
threatening
to
shutter
these
pharmacies
and
increase
prescription
drug
prices
for
seniors
covered
by
Medicare.
This
bipartisan
bill
would
make
the
system
more
transparent,
help
pharmacies
keep
their
doors
open,
and
ensure
seniors
have
access
to
the
medications
they
need.

I’m
working
on
a
spending
plan
that
would
expand
access
to
Medicare
and
benefits
by
lowering
the
eligibility
age
to
60
and
adding
coverage
for
dental,
vision,
and
hearing
care.

And
I
introduced
legislation
that
would
fix
a
policy
that
requires
seniors
to
pay
for
nursing
care
after
hospitalization
that
should
be
covered
under
Medicare,
but
isn’t
due
to
billing
technicalities.
This
legislation
would
make
sure
seniors
can
focus
on
getting
better
rather
than
worrying
about
medical
billing
and
not
being
able
to
afford
the
care
they
need.
Access to quality, affordable health care is a pillar in our fight for the Dignity of Work, and it’s going to take all of us raising our voices to make sure workers can retire with dignity and still receive the care they need.
