The devastating effects of climate change batter our communities more each year - and not just with costly and often deadly extreme weather events like wildfires, superstorms and droughts.
These three recent headlines highlight the need for bold action:
“Pace of California wildfires in 2021 well ahead of disastrous 2020”
“Are record-breaking hurricanes our new normal?”
“Hundreds died in the West's heat wave last week. Now another one is gearing up.”
And perhaps most heartbreakingly, climate change is spurring a global mass extinction event, with the U.N. warning that up to 1 million species at risk if the world continues down this path.
While cold-climate animals like polar bears and emperor penguins are losing their habitats to sea ice melt, pollinators and migratory birds are increasingly unable to rely on their instincts to tell them when it’s time to mate or migrate.
The good news is: there’s still time to prevent the worst effects of climate change from upending life as we know it. We have an incredible opportunity to make transformative changes: to the way we power our homes and businesses, and to the way we travel from place to place - the two biggest sources of pollutants that cause climate change.
Just imagine: A modern, reliable electric grid producing zero net climate pollution. All new cars and trucks contributing net zero climate pollution to the atmosphere.
With your support today, we won’t have to imagine. The bolder we are now, the sooner we can make it a reality!
Please donate to our Summer Match campaign to help bring that vision to life. Every $1 you donate unlocks $2 more in matching funds, tripling your impact.
Thank you for all you do for a better future,
