Over the past few decades, we’ve seen Big Tech monopolize industries and consolidate their power. A lack of competition harms consumers, which is why Democrats have been hard at work to pass antitrust reforms.
The latest development in this work has been passing six major bills out of the House Judiciary Committee which I voted for wholeheartedly. The bills would crack down on Big Tech’s efforts to muscle out any competition to their market share. President Biden also announced an executive order directing agencies to consider antitrust implications in their work.
The consolidation of Big Tech companies has increased the erosion of the middle class while the rich get richer. Heads of companies like Amazon, Facebook, and Apple continue to break wealth records while millions of Americans struggle to make ends meet.
The playing field is tipped against workers, so we’re fighting to change that. Everyone in this country deserves a fighting chance to succeed no matter their situation.
