Hi John - We don’t have a moment to lose. On Friday, a federal judge in Texas declared the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program “unlawful.” This puts the status of nearly one million long-time U.S. residents at risk and prohibits the processing of new DACA applications. Most DACA recipients have been living in the U.S. for years. Many are serving as first responders and essential workers, helping us get through the pandemic. They were brought here as kids, and many now have children of their own. A loss of their status followed by deportation could cause them to be separated from their U.S. citizen children. We can’t let that happen. Tell your senators to vote for the Dream Act – so everyone can live the American Dream together with their families. The Dream Act is bipartisan legislation that will greatly benefit the lives, safety, and well-being of children and their families. This bill would set legal pathways so that about one million undocumented immigrants who have lived in the U.S. for decades can formally become permanent residents, and later, citizens. I myself was brought to the U.S. by my parents when I was 9 years old, fleeing poverty and corruption in Ecuador. Like me, these Dreamers have strong ties to their communities, their jobs and the lives they’ve built here. They have been stuck in limbo for too long and need a solution. Add your name now to urge your senators to support the Dream Act to build a stronger, more united, and kinder America for generations to come. Thank you for being a voice for kids, |
