Hi John,

Last week was an exciting time in our country as the first payments of the expanded Child Tax Credit hit families’ bank accounts. These payments are expected to cut child poverty in half and will impact hundreds of thousands of families in Connecticut’s First District alone.

Eligible families will automatically receive up to $300 per month for each child ages 0-5 & $250 per month for each child ages 6 to 17. These monthly payments will continue throughout the rest of the year, and if you filed taxes in 2019 or 2020 and qualify for them, you will get them automatically. You can find more information and find out if you need to take action here.

I am proud to have led the effort in the Ways and Means Committee to include the enhanced Child Tax Credit in the American Rescue Plan and I am fighting to make these vital benefits permanent.

Finally, this wouldn't have happened without Rosa DeLauro who has been Congress’s leading advocate for the Child Tax Credit. Millions of children and families across the country will be better off because of her hard work and determination.

If you have friends or family who may be eligible, and you’re not sure if they’ve applied, forward this email to them and help us make sure no child is left behind on this critical direct relief for families all across the First Congressional District, the state, and the country.

Sincerely,
John
