Team,

My mother took pride in paying her bills on time, but in the midst of several life-disrupting events, there came a point where she no longer could afford it.

No matter how hard my mother worked, we owed everybody — the utility company, the landlord, the bank, the car company. We were frequently harassed by debt collectors: receiving endless abusive phone calls and letters.

I’m proud to have just introduced the Monitoring and Curbing Abusive Debt Collection Practices Act, to end abusive debt collection practices once and for all.

If you believe that no one deserves to be harassed and abused by aggressive debt collectors, please chip in to our movement for economic justice today and help me get this bill passed.

Predatory debt collectors are a leading cause of financial stress and trauma for so many families across the country. Nearly one in three Americans were contacted by at least one creditor or debt collector during the last year.

My family’s story is the story of millions who are living with feelings of fear, vulnerability, judgment, and shame thanks to abusive debt collectors.

My bill, the Monitoring and Curbing Abusive Debt Collection Practices Act, works to actively curb the aggressive tactics and psychological harassment that debt collectors so often employ.

This new bill is deeply personal to me. No one should experience harassment and psychological trauma as a result of aggressive debt collection.

Please donate today to support this legislation and help end abusive debt collection practices. The way that we will get this bill passed and signed into law is with the backing of grassroots supporters like you.

Thank you for being a part of the A-Team. I appreciate all that you do to power our movement for justice and equity.

In Solidarity,
Ayanna
