reiterates support for underserved areas draft bill ahead of hearing
Today a House Financial Services Subcommittee will hold a hearing on expanding
access to the financial system where legislation under consideration includes
a NAFCU-supported proposal to allow all federal credit unions the ability to add
underserved areas to their field of membership (FOM). NAFCU's Brad Thaler
wrote to the subcommittee ahead of the hearing to encourage support of these efforts.

Development (HUD) issued a proposed rule to rescind its 2020 final rule to amend
the Fair Housing Act's disparate impact standard and restore the 2013 discriminatory
effects rule. In a new Regulatory Alert sent to members Monday, NAFCU seeks credit union feedback on the proposal.

NAFCU's Regulatory Committee met Tuesday and discussed proposed rulemakings
currently open for comment from the NCUA, the Federal Reserve, and the Department
of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). NAFCU staff also provided an overview
of recent developments regarding the recent change in leadership at the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA).
