Universal paid family leave is a matter of public health, racial, gender, economic and disability justice, and everyone in the U.S. should get it.
No one should be forced to make the impossible choice between their livelihood and the health and safety of their family.
But the vast majority of working people, particularly women and people of color, aren’t able to care for a new child, a sick loved one, or themselves because they don’t have paid family leave — a reality only exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic.
That’s why, in partnership with Reps. Chrissy Houlahan, Rosa DeLauro, and Judy Chu, Ayanna is leading the effort to secure universal, comprehensive paid family leave as part of the Build Back Better infrastructure package.
