When President Biden signed into law the $1.9 trillion stimulus package in March, it included the Child Tax Credit, an infusion of up to $3,600 in additional relief for working families. It was a remarkable achievement for our progressive movement, and one that will cut child poverty in half.

But when the IRS started cutting checks for the Child Tax Credit last week, there was a jarring name that received a check.

Jeffrey Bezos.

I can't begin to tell you how much that pisses me off. This money was meant for parents that still struggle every day to make it through the pandemic. Parents who too often have to choose between saving for next month's rent or putting food in their child's stomach. And despite his $180 billion net worth, Bezos reported income of just above $80,000 was low enough to qualify him for what was meant to be a game-changing infusion of cash for struggling families.

I'm not ready to throw one tax cheat out with the bathwater, but if you ever needed more evidence that our country is in desperate need of a wealth tax, look no further than the $3,600 check that the U.S. government cut for Bezos. Oh, and by the way, if you weren't already furious just know that Bezos makes roughly $3,600 EVERY. SINGLE. SECOND.

But Jeffrey Bezos' and every other Big Business CEO's legion of tax lawyers is attacking any Democrat that so much as explores the possibility of a wealth tax. So I need to hear from you to help me push back:
Does our country need a wealth tax?

Thank you for taking the time to answer this critical survey. We need everyone in our grassroots movement to capitalize on this groundswell of public support and finally make the wealthiest of the wealthiest Americans pay their fair share.

Gracias,
Chuy

P.S. I'll never stop fighting for the people, but Big Business and corporate donors are coming after me for fighting for the progressives causes that we so desperately need. That's why we're asking you to chip in to help me fight back. [[link removed]
