There are still many unanswered questions from January 6th — the day a violent mob of insurrectionists attacked our Capitol and threatened our democracy.

The American people deserve answers, accountability, and action to prevent such horrific events from occurring again. That is why Democrats in Congress voted to launch a bipartisan committee to investigate the attack. But the credibility and usefulness of this committee is already being endangered because an extreme faction of the GOP is trying to delegitimize the investigation.

Yesterday, Kevin McCarthy announced three extremists who voted against election certification, including Jim Jordan, have been nominated to the committee. These radical Republicans could derail this process completely.

They will stand in the way of justice and prevent this investigation from garnering the respect it deserves.
