Hey John,
I'm Jamil Favors, the Deputy Political Director for African American Outreach at the Democratic Party of Georgia.
I wanted to tell you about the vital work I do that your donations fuel. (And if you want to continue to fund our work, please donate today.)
In January, Georgia finally elected its first Black senator, Reverend Raphael Warnock.
It was only possible because of the consistent organizing and investment in Georgia's Black communities.
Now, it's my job at the Georgia Democrats Headquarters to continue that work. But, what exactly does that entail?
While it changes day to day, for the most part, I:
- Connect our party with Black elected officials, community organizations, and local leaders throughout the state.
- Advocate for issues specifically related to the Black community within our organization.
- Help direct trainings and support sustainable organizing in Black communities across Georgia.
- Work to ensure Black Georgians turn out and vote to keep Georgia blue.
It is essential that the Democratic Party engages with and invests in Black communities — which time and time again have turned out to save our democracy.
When we are successful at this, we make history, like we did this past January.
Next year, we have the opportunity to re-elect Sen. Reverend Warnock and kick out Brian Kemp, who has shown that he's willing to undermine Black Georgians' right to vote at every turn.
Now that you know what we do and why, can you please chip in and help us continue our critical work?
I appreciate your support!
