This country was founded on the belief that folks have a right to representation in their government -- but as of today, over 700,000 Washington D.C. residents are being denied that representation in Congress.

D.C. residents are taxed like every other American, they share the same responsibilities and duties as every other American, and they should be afforded the same right to representation in Congress like any other American. Anything else is frankly undemocratic.

Folks, Republicans are doing everything in their power to attack our democracy -- from the attempted coup in January to restricting voting rights for Americans. Democrats have a limited amount of time to be in control of both chambers of Congress -- now’s the time to expand our democracy by adding our 51st state, D.C.
